Langstroth 1857 Version

Circa 1857. Presented not as another hive, but to show the difference from today's hive. Note how the frames do not "swing" in the case.

Circa 1756.

Vicat Hive

Munn Hive 1834

Munn's book (about 1840) was read by Langstroth. He marked in his copy the spacing of the frames (1/2") and the fact of them being movable. Munn also invented a different version later also listed on this site.
